FAS Russia will start full-scale research of the pharmaceutical market with BRICS Competition Centre

It was one of the topics discussed by representatives of the competition authorities of the countries of the international association. FAS Russia was represented by the deputy head of the department, Petr Ivanov, and the head of the International Economic Cooperation Department, Lesya Davydova. The event was held online.

The parties summed up the results of the activities of the BRICS Working Groups on the study of competition problems in the pharmaceutical, automotive, food and digital markets in 2020 and outlined the directions for their future activities.

In 2021, the agency and the BRICS Competition Centre will begin a full-scale study of the pharmaceutical market. At present, model recommendations are being developed on the application of the confidentiality waiver mechanism when considering transactions of economic concentration of the BRICS member states.

"The FAS Russia considers the rejection of confidentiality as one of the most effective instruments of international cooperation of the antimonopoly authorities in the law enforcement sphere. This mechanism is actively used by the FAS Russia when considering practically all global transactions," noted Petr Ivanov.
In conclusion, the participants noted the importance of the work done and the timeliness of the implementation of the agreements that were reached during the meeting.
