Russia’s antitrust regulator will examine retail pricing for eggs and drinking milk to ensure it is justified.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) said it has requested pricing data from the country’s largest retail chains as part of a probe into how prices for chicken eggs and milk are set.

Earlier, the regulator warned retailers against unjustified price hikes for eggs, including during the surge in demand ahead of orthodox Easter (April 12).

Retailers have been asked to provide weekly and monthly data on weighted average purchase and retail prices, as well as volumes bought and sold, for the period from January to April 2026, according to the agency’s press service.

The review will cover all product categories sold by retail chains, regardless of price segment.

If signs of antitrust violations are found, the agency said it will act promptly to stop them and take appropriate enforcement measures.
