Exchanging best practices can help BRICS countries protect competition more effectively, Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) said.
FAS Deputy Head Ruslan Dzhaliukov made the remarks at a meeting of the BRICS Coordination Committee on Competition Policy.
Dzhaliukov presented the agency’s work in 2025–2026, noting that the practices of Russia’s FAS and competition regulators in other BRICS countries have much in common.
He also took part in discussions on the results and future work of BRICS Working Groups on competition issues in socially important markets. He highlighted the support provided by the International BRICS Competition Law and Policy Centre for joint research projects.
The meeting resulted in a joint statement by BRICS competition authorities on pooling efforts and strengthening international cooperation to promote fair competition in digital markets amid the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, the FAS press service said.
The participants also noted the successful completion of a joint study of competition issues in the renewable energy sector across BRICS countries. The competition authorities proposed including the findings in the declaration of the 18th BRICS Summit, which will be held in India in September 2026.
At the end of the meeting, participants reaffirmed the need to continue sharing experience, bringing regulatory practices closer together, and developing common approaches and methodologies, including in competition law enforcement. They said such cooperation is becoming increasingly important as economies grow more interconnected.
