South African Regulator Conducts Survey on Participation of People with Disabilities in the Economy

The survey is part of an effort to develop measures to create a more inclusive economy.

The Competition Commission is conducting research to understand the entrepreneurial landscape for persons with disabilities in South Africa.

“The study seeks to understand the entrepreneurial opportunities available for persons living with disabilities, the challenges, and the mechanisms and strategies required to support their entry and participation,” 

said the antitrust body.

As part of the study, the Commission invites people living with disabilities, advocacy groups, business owners, and relevant stakeholders to complete a survey

“The survey will provide valuable insights in shaping strategic policy interventions to achieve a more inclusive and competitive economy,”

stated Commission in a press release.

The responses to this survey will be treated anonymously. The data will be collected and stored in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act, ensuring that all personal information is kept confidential, secure, and used exclusively for this research, as stated by the Competition Commission.

The survey will remain open till 10 February 2025.
