This week, the World Intellectual Property Organization released the "2021 Global Innovation Index". China is steadily increasing its place in this ranking - it is now close to the top 10, and since last year it has risen from 14th to 12th position. The Cyberspace Administration of China has released Opinions on Further Strengthening the Subjective Responsibility of Internet Platforms with regard to content and called on the platforms for more active self-regulation. Also this week, a videoconference was held between the Chinese authorities and Germany on financial technology and global payments. The head of the People's Bank of China, Yi Gang, said that Chinese regulators are working hard to balance the link between stimulating development and preventing risks. The Douyin video platform, the Chinese version of the TikTok app, continued its campaign to reduce Internet time by imposing a time limit on those under the age of 14.
