BRICS Centre signed a MoC with Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center of Uzbekistan

On March 25, a delegation of the BRICS Competition Centre signed a Memorandum on further strengthening and expanding mutual cooperation with the Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan. 

The parties recognized each other as important partners for the development of cooperation in research activities, organization of educational programs (seminars, trainings, conferences), exchange of advanced experience and best international practices on competition and consumer protection issues.

The Memorandum comes into force from the date of its signing and is valid for five years.

The signing of the Memorandum with the Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center of Uzbekistan is an important step towards deepening mutual cooperation in the field of antimonopoly regulation, Alexey Ivanov noted. 

“The importance of partnership within BRICS and CIS lies in the creation of sustainable and effective mechanisms to respond to global economic challenges. Cooperation between our countries allows not only to strengthen national markets, but also to increase competitiveness in the international arena. We are confident that the exchange of best practices and joint efforts will help us achieve significant success in developing fair competition in the economy and improving the well-being of the citizens of our countries,” 

said the Director of the BRICS Centre.

In addition, Director of the BRICS Centre Alexey Ivanov held a meeting with Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khalilillo Turakhujaev.

The Competition Policy and Consumer Rights Research Center under the Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan opened in 2024.  

The main objective of the Center's activities is to analyze the competitive environment in commodity and financial markets, identify obstacles for new entrants, assess the impact of privileges and exclusive rights on competition, identify dominant players, regulate monopolies, develop competition, protect consumer rights and improve the advertising market, as well as regulate natural monopolies.
