The BRICS Competition Law & Policy Centre and the Center for Technology and Society at FGV Direito Rio (CTS-FGV), are pleased to announce a Call for Submissions for a Workshop on Digital Competition in the BRICS, which will take place on November 27 and 28, 2025, at FGV Law School in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
The two-day academic workshop will be held in conjunction with the fourth edition of BRICS + Digital Competition Forum, featuring the participation of BRICS authorities and other experts in competition law and economic regulation. The Workshop aims to foster scholarly dialogue and research in the field of digital markets and competition policy within BRICS jurisdictions.
Topics of Interest
We invite submissions addressing to the following topics:
a) Competition in mobile ecosystems;
b) Ex ante regulations;
c) Interoperability;
d) Ride-hailing platforms;
e) Competition policy;
f) Digital public infrastructure.
Eligibility and submission guidelines
This call is for scholars, practitioners and experts of competition law with a specific interest for digital markets in the BRICS. We particularly encourage submissions from junior researchers undertaking a doctoral degree or with up to 3 years of experience after completion of a doctoral degree in law, economics or political science. Researchers working on digital competition matters in the BRICS are encouraged to submit extended abstracts from 3,000 to 4,000 words. Submissions must be written in English, be original and unpublished. Abstracts are welcome from any jurisdiction, but must directly relate to competition in one or more of the (extended) BRICS member countries. Authors will receive feedback and will benefit from interactions with their international peers at the Workshop and the Forum.
The deadline for submission of extended abstracts is September 15, 2025. Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit full papers,, to be shared with discussants at the workshop, by October 30, 2025.
