CADE’s publication states that on the 12th of July Official Gazette of the Union published a decree by the President of the Republic, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, nominating Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo as president of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE).Cordeiro was appointed president of CADE on the 30th of June. On the 5th of July, it was judged and approved by the Economic Affairs Committee of the Federal Senate. His name was confirmed by the House Plenary on the 7th of July. Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo is a former adviser to CADE and was general superintendent of the autarchy for two terms. He holds a double degree in Law and Economics, is a doctoral candidate in Economic Law at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, has a Master's degree in Constitutional Law at the Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público, and a post-graduate degree in Administrative Disciplinary Procedure at the University of Brasília. Cordeiro has been a career auditor at the Federal Comptroller General's Office since 2006. CADE’s new president will serve a four-year term.
