Such forecasts were voiced by the Director General of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies.

On July 26, 2023, the media cited his statement predicting a rise in prices for buckwheat in September 2023.

FAS Russia notes that such statements can be perceived as an incentive to raise prices by market participants, as well as provoke a rush demand from consumers. A warning is a preventive measure that is designed to prevent violations of antimonopoly legislation.

The authority recalls the prohibition of the coordination of actions of economic entities-competitors, which may lead to the establishment or maintenance of prices.

FAS Russia warns of the obligation to strictly comply with the requirements of the antimonopoly legislation. If signs of unlawful behavior and setting economically unjustified prices by individual companies are detected,  FAS Russia will stop unfair practices and immediately take response measures.
