According to TASS, retail chains have asked for the possibility of limiting the sale of a number of goods in one hand. This would allow the stores to fight with resellers. The specific products and parameters will be defined by the networks themselves within their core associations.

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry supported the initiative. Auchan has already introduced restrictions on the sale of a number of socially important goods in one hand. The retailer assures that there is enough stock and the restriction is necessary in order to keep the goods on the shelves. Restrictions are also introduced in some Atak stores, which are managed by Auchan Retail Russia.

One customer can buy no more than 10kg of sugar (10 1kg packs or two 5kg packs), no more than 10 bottles of vegetable oil, 5 2kg flour packs and 3 salt packs. Also, no more than 10 packages of groceries - pasta, rice and other cereals - are allowed per person.

The press service of the Russian Auchan explained that the company is observing an increase in demand for socially important products, including from businesses that make purchases, and thus trying to make sure that the shelves have enough goods for everyone. At the same time the chain assures that it has stocks of these goods and supplies are running smoothly.
