Russia's FAS Initiated Cases Against Producers of Chicken Eggs

Regional offices revealed signs of violation of the Law on Protection of Competition in the actions of companies.

As a result of market research, as well as analysis of the submitted materials, the Interregional Crimean Office of FAS Russia revealed a one-time increase in prices for chicken eggs by two Crimean manufacturing companies Partizan LLC and JV Oktyabrskoye LLC.

Since the beginning of September 2023, companies have allowed an increase in wholesale and selling prices up to 94 % for different categories of eggs.

According to the authority, a one-time synchronous price increase, unrelated to changes in other general conditions of circulation of goods, contains signs of violation of the Law on Protection of Competition.*

Kirov RO of FAS Russia revealed the fact of an increase in prices for chicken eggs by producers Sovetskaya Agrofirma LLC and Vyatsko-Polyanskaya Poultry Farm JSC.

From the beginning of June to October 2023, these companies allowed wholesale and selling prices for eggs to rise to 60 %.

FAS initiated a case against the companies on the grounds of a cartel agreement**, which led to an increase in prices for chicken eggs. During the consideration of the case, the antimonopoly authority will assess the validity of such an increase.

In case of violations in the framework of antitrust cases, companies face turnover fines in accordance with the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation***.
