Apple would charge a 27% commission fee for all payments made on Russian apps via external resources instead of the standard 30%.

Apple has allowed Russian developers to use third-party billing systems in apps. According to iPhones.ru, users may be able to pay for purchases in apps placed in the App Store through external resources. To do this, developers must implement a special tool.

The innovation will allow you to add a link to a website informing about other payment methods. The decision concerns only the Russian market.

As experts note, it is still unclear how the practice of such payment methods will be formed, how Apple will accept applications from developers and what projects will pass moderation.

"It is quite possible that, despite the fact that developers will be able to withdraw users from their apps to pay for services and in-app purchases, Apple will continue to force sanctions and will not allow the use of some payment methods,"

said Nikita Goryainov, editor-in-chief of iPhones.ru, in a comment to BFM.ru.

Apple could allow developers from Russia to use external payment services after a 1.2 billion ruble fine imposed on the company by the Federal Antimonopoly Service in January 2023. The agency believes that the US company abused its dominant market position by forcing users to pay for purchases only through the App Store.
