China's market regulator continues dialogue with businesses on competition and entrepreneurship support.

China's market regulator held a symposium on fair competition on Wednesday, with eight companies including tech firm NetEase, carmaker Great Wall Motor and express delivery company S.F. Holding in attendance.

Regulators will strengthen their fair competition review, enhance antitrust supervision and enforcement, and improve the efficiency of investment and M&A reviews, the State Administration for Market Regulation said in a statement posted on its social media account.

This is the fourth such symposium organized by SAMR. In April, the regulator held a similar meeting with leaders of seven major companies: China COSCO Shipping, Dongfeng Motor, New Hope, Gree, Longfor, Atour Group, and Connell Pharmaceutical.

At that meeting, SAMR Deputy Director Meng Yang discussed efforts to combat illegal fees imposed on businesses, measures to support enterprises, and engaged in a dialogue to learn about the challenges and difficulties companies are facing.

In May, SAMR also hosted a symposium aimed at supporting entrepreneurs through digital platforms. Attendees included individual entrepreneurs from various cities and provinces, representatives of platform companies such as Xiaohongshu, Alipay, Douyin, and Pinduoduo, as well as representatives of Chinese financial institutions.
