Amazon and Competition Commission of India (CCI) have not yet commented.

India's Competition Commission has launched raids against two leading local Amazon sellers over alleged violation of antitrust laws, Reuters reports.

The agency cited sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The companies in question are Cloudtail and Appario, the sources said on condition of anonymity. Amazon has an indirect stake in both companies.

A Reuters investigation based on Amazon documents last year found that for years the company had given preferential treatment to a small group of sellers, including Cloudtail, and used them to bypass Indian laws.

In August, Amazon and Cloudtail decided that the latter would cease to be a seller on the platform from May 2022.
