Booking.com Paid a Fine of 1.3 Billion Rubles

On April 7th, the company reported on the payment of 1.3 billion rubles to the Russian budget.

Booking.com has paid to the federal budget a fine of 1.3 billion rubles, imposed by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS). The corresponding report was received from the company, reported the press service of FAS.

In August 2021 the agency found the company guilty of violating the antimonopoly legislation. The FAS imposed a turnover fine of 1.3 billion rubles on Booking for abuse of its dominant market position.

"The company was imposing unfavourable contract terms on Russian hotels and hotels, according to which they were obliged to provide it and observe on their part the parity of prices, availability of rooms and conditions in all sales channels and distribution of their services. Such channels include meta-search engines, travel agencies, other information aggregators as well as websites of hotels and other accommodation facilities themselves",

reminded the FAS.
