The deal has already been approved by regulators in the UK and Canada.

Tech investment group Prosus has requested EU approval for its plan to take over European food delivery platform Just Eat Takeaway.com, MLex has learned.

The European Commission is expected to set an end-July deadline to decide on the deal. The filing was made on Friday.

Prosus, which owns a minority stake in rival Delivery Hero, said last month it had received UK and Canadian clearance for the deal, and that it expected to receive the remaining approvals before the end of the year.

Prosus, an investor which specializes in food delivery and other online services, announced its 4.1 billion euro ($4.6 billion) plan to buy Just Eat Takeaway in February, saying it would create “a European food delivery champion.”

The EU review will dig into how much influence Prosus has over Delivery Hero through its non-controlling stake of 29.3 percent and a seat on its supervisory board.
